He indeed has yodaesque expressions at times. It's a strange thing with Classical music. Being completely involved makes many of them look silly, but less so in other forms of music. Maybe it's because they're less interested in being cool and more interested in the actual music. Well, it don't matter none nohow!

If a Yankee pitcher does poorly in the third and everyone can see that, do you think this logic would work if one person says "sheesh he needs to be replaced" and another says why don't you go down the field and pitch. The fact is that good or bad, particularly bad, is perfectly fine when expressed from another to one's work, if he is able to provided a good thought out reason. But then again, music is very subjective, so one's pleasure could be another's torture. So, relax.
