rcknbkr403,You made some good points, BUT we could hit the library and I could show you some statistics to prove that life in Southern Calif was (for most people) better than now. There was 60% less population, less crowding at all beach areas, higher real incomes, a FINANCIALLY SOLVENT STATE GOV, far fewer illegitimate children, higher percentage of intact families, no gay marriages, less gang activity, and a predominance of one language: ENGLISH. I lived in Santa Barbara then--beautiful!

soldier041111,I was in LA in mid 60's and had a taste of the scene. When it comes to enjoying navels, and everything above and below, you couldn't touch it now. There was more good lovin' to be had back then--before AIDS, Herpes, Chlamydia, HPV ripped through the scene. Real incomes were higher, too, and young folks had more free time than now. Look at those dancers---You can't touch this now. We live in the shadow of the sixties, what Hunter S. Thompson called the "highwater mark."bb

Look, my point wasn't whether he was murdered or offed himself. My point was someone made a comment about this song and era saying it was a "great time to be alive". I was pointing out the irony of making such a comment on the page of a video of a talented guy who was murdered/committed suicide. The LA police, always and again, are doubtlessly incompetent and untrustworthy.

No, he was murdered and it was covered up with the help of the ever-honest LAPD and the LA County coroner, who I believe was Thomas Noguchi. Fuller was found beaten to death and doused in gasoline in his own car. The autopsy report, which has been sealed for decades, was recently alleged to have been changed from "suicide" to "accident", which precluded an LAFD investigation. Very mysterious.
