Awesome song.

Spacehog didn't do much other than this piece, ripped or not.. It's a moving melody.I dig Bungle. Way ahead of their time aswell. The vocals are unique to this era of beatles-butt-pop. The bassline combined creates an interesting motive that gives way to a soothing piano resolve.. 4 minute hits had a nice season in the 90's.

Get real. This is great music plain and simple. Go create some controversy somewhere else. wow wow wow

I'm not bitching or arguing. I'm engaging in a conversation about this great song. Isn't that the whole point of the comment section? To exchange ideas and opinions? True, I'm defending my point of view, but I'm not even implying any hostility, even though the other guy is, as well as being a little whiny. And no offense, but I could apply your argument back to you. Search for "Oh Yeah" Cobalt 60 on YouTube to hear my band. Now, where's your music? Peace.

Ultimately, considering that Simon Jeffes original 'riff' is just a telephone system fault, resulting in a combination of a ring tone and an engaged signal at the same time, it could be said that HE stole it, since he only recorded it and did NOT write it.

Pop is just short for popular. Some is shit because a lot of people have bad taste. Some is awesome because a lot of people have good taste. Considering that most people who have ever even heard of the PCO, have only done so either because of one song gaining popularity after it was on a popular movie soundtrack or from that one bar sample from Spacehog. I bet Simon Jeffes made more money in royalties (and gained a wider audience) from this one Spacehog song, than all of the PCO albums combined.

YOUR logic and your burger example is flawed. Taste has nothing to do with it because, ultimately, we have different, ahem, tastes and will never agree on that point. A more relevant example would be preferring to OWN McDonalds and reap the financial benefits from being the most popular fast food joint in the world, rather than being an elitist food critic that nobody has ever heard of.

The sample, and the riff that mimics it, isn't that key to the song. To call this song a "rip off" is ludicrous... are you sure that these guys didn't pay for the rights to sample? And couldn't you have found a better place to espouse your musical knowledge than on a youtube comments page? Join a public radio station or something, goddamn...
