I am posting the main modes of the Major scale and then when I have the 7 diatonics posted I will show you how they fit together and how you can use them to play lead over the whole fret board. All modes will be in the key of G major.Modes can be shifted over a key for neat changes; however, for simplicity and learning I will not be changing keys for the modes (i.e. teaching all the modes with the same root note). The positions I play these modes in, all belong to the same key, which means you can play any of the modes (forms) and they will sound good in the key of G major. You can experiment with other key combinations on your own. Here are the modes, root notes and chords(triads) I will use:ionian G Gmajdorian A Amphrygian B Bmlydian C Cmajmixolydian D Dmajaeolian E Emlocrian F# F#dimNOTES:Don't worry too much about the names of the modes, but work on accuracy and positions in relation to each other.Use alternate picking and practice accuracy over speed, the speed will come.Although the tab only shows accending, the notes are the same when descending. Some scales are different when descending than accending, but these are the same.Practice, practice, practice.

Good Question, this is because you are changing keys, I address this in some of my other videos, but in short here it is.Playing F locrian puts you in the key of Gb/F# (exact same notes, just a different name) which means the A note is flat or sharp, normally it won't be natural here. The modes I show are in the key of G, if you move the F# locrian down one fret, you have to move all of the modes and chords down one fret too. That's how you change the key. hope this helps.

Nice! But I have one question...When I start playing this mode on Fm, and,for example, I change chord to A, this mode doesn't sound good anymore... Are there some other chords which I should use during playing this mode? this also happens with myxolydian, lydian... thanks!

You are very welcome! scales and chords are the bases of music and especially for guitarists. My lessons are more of a sweeping pattern (2 octaves plus 2 notes) for quick application instead of traditional patterns (1 or 2 octaves).good luck with your class, peace

Thanks you so much for your video. I will start teaching beginning guitar and this is a big help in having some learning material for when the class starts to advance, and to have something for those fast learner who always want to take off, and it will keep the class interesting too! Thanks again and I look forward to more of your learning video. The Best to you...
