Rotational, vibrational, rising, falling, shifting and pendulum type energies are used in Shotokan Karate-do. They are used in combination where possible and constantly studied for better, stronger application. Ikken Hisatsu is the focus of training in that the study of how to kill with one strike brings together vital points, use of proper technique and todome waza, or, the quality of response that brings a final, sharp, hard hitting technique in to play. Ikken Hissatsu, "kill with one cut."

and dont forget shotokan uses hip rotation and vibration. there's so much more to a shotokan punch than just extending the arm :D

Nishiyama sensei died Friday, November 7, 2008 in Los Angeles. It is a sad time for the traditional Karate world. He was my teacher.

Because shotokan is best known for ikken hisatsu (one hit=one man down and don't bother me with spelling because it is not a latin written word). Most of the people that have such a level of skill are shotokan karateka, did you know that? And the person that invented kyokushin (Masutatsu Oyama) studied shotokan until he reached yondan (4'th dan).BTW: YOU CAN NOT COMPARE STYLES!!! ONLY FIGHTERS!!The best style is the best style for YOU! People you think otherwise just can't live with the truth.

You kyokushin guys bore me to death. You say you make full contact yet you limit your contact areas. It is a sport. These guys do not make contact because the throat, eyes, testicles, spine, temporal etc are lethal areas. Karate does not limit hand attack to the chest or legs or kicking to the head as kyokushin does. You don't like that, don't study it. It suits us that bozos do other stuff anyway. How old are you, 12?
