True enough from watching this video... they play quite differently on their respective solos. You are right... SRV had his own style and no one will ever match it. I just think its cool to see the student / master relationship. Actually, if you listen to the entire Session album, there's a lot of discussion between Stevie and Albert talking about when they first met.

Influence yes, but SRV did no ripped of Albert King! SRV had his own style, playing and passion for the guitar! Albert King influenced Stevie, but that is all, cause SRV had his own style that nobody will ever match!And check again, neither by the licks, tone, sound, complete playing, they really are far from being the same! They are both very different from each other!

grga... from the point of view of the tone of the two guitarists - quite different. Really, I'm speaking from the influences of Albert on Stevie - what great thief SRV was! As we all are... how else do we blues guitarists gain inspiration. Just listen to Laundromat Blues live recording and compare it to Texas Flood or Sky is Crying. Hendrix too... what a great influence he was on Stevie as well!

Not true, Albert and Stevie don't sound similar at all! They are way to different, Albert King is one of the finest and best blues players ever, and Stevie is the best and most talented rock and roll and blues force in guitar history after Jimi Hendrix!
