Pentatonic means five tone scale; most scales have eight noted while the penta (latin for five) has only five. I hope that answers your question.

Well I'm not complaining; what you have to reaise is that this is a springboard for new ideas and I'll definately buy he DVD. I lernt more from this than any other video I've seen.

on second thought you don't really have to stick to a certain scale structure to the T, you can mix and match modes but I just wanted to know if there was a theoritical explination

does anyone know why if I'm playing A Pentatonic minor that it sounds good if I play A#, or an A# 5th? Is it a passing tone? I thought originally it was a neapolitan chord, but that would actually be B I believe
