This is cheating and bribing the dog. It is always effective but you can only fool yourself! The dog laying down because she is following your hand and assuming you have food in your hand. The dog is NOT laying down because you want her to lay down! You can use this method to train a bird. A dog is a mammal and can do much better.

rotts expect something back when they do for u. food is a good way to teach a dog. u make no sense saying its not. im not sayin thats the only way, but it is one way. u sound like an abusive owner and train mean dogs

This should be called how to completely lose respect of your dog. Take the food away and you're just some guy in that dog's house, not a master. Training with food is the worst possible way to train a dog.

The biggest problem with this is that the dog is focus on the food, not her and plus, she's not telling him (hand-wise) that this mean down. When he does the command, then give the food. It's best to not use the food until after he does the command. Get his focus on you and then do the command, then reward.
