That was an E6, also known as a whistle register. Many singers have used it in the past & are still using it today such as Minnie Ripperton, JoJo, Mariah Carey, etc. Especially check out Minnie Ripperton. Her song "Memory Lane" will send chills down your spine like you would NEVER believe!
