Have you seen more than maybe one or two episodes?I watch episodes of the old Transformers show sometimes and they dont feel almost anhy exciting at all and the storys are not very interesting.I have not seen lots of episodes of the new show yet but it seems much better than the old show. Most people that ´say the old shows are better seems to have only seen one or two episodes of the new ones and dont like it because its different from the one your used to.

Sorry but you couldn't be more wrong, i just watched the new Cartoon Network Transformers & it was so nausiating, the animation looked like garbage & the storyline was absolute bollocks. Not only that but the decepticons used dialogue like noob & pwned LOL, typical gen z garbage. And if you think they're not making cartoons mainly to sell toys these days you are totally deluded & in denial. Transformers is a bigger cash cow now than it ever was in the 80s, open your eyes & take a look around.

Yes thats exactly what i said before. Were you suppoosed to reply to dave4378s comment?

No dude, cartoons in the 80's were made to sell toys! That fuckin' decade, that everyone thinks is so cool, was the WORST for animation. From Strawberry Shortcake to Smurfs to G.I. Joe. Before that, if a cartoon was popular, they MAY have made toys about it, but the 80's is when they started making cartoons for toys in earnest. I never thought anyone would be nostalgic for these condescending shows but I guess you just love what you grow up with.

Excellent. takes me back to when I was 8 and lived for this.

And also most cartoons in the past where only made to sell toys and they did not care about trying to make it as great as possible. In a interview of the makers of He-man for example they said most episodes were made really fast and they simply picked a simply story not much work was made. They complained about old cartoons much in that interview and that it was only about toys and not good shows.Try to watch some new shows and some old ones and see whats the best.I do it all the time.

In almost all popular cartoons in the past they did not even try to make exciting storys and characters and fighting a new evil plan from the bad guy was pretty much the only thing it was about. If thundercats, TMNT and other old shows came out today all you people that used to watch it as kids would hate them.In most of todays cartoons they are lots of fun to watch no matter how old you are.I watched Thundercats yesterday and i got bored fast.

I watch cartoons all the time. Both new, old and Anime. And me and my other animation loving friends think that most old cartoons are much worse than the old ones.I LOVED the old TMNT show as a kid but now when i look at it it simply sucks. The storys are not any exciting at all and the characters are boring. The new TMNT show is a huge improvement with much better storys and characters.Same thing with Thundercats and Transformers for example.

I hate to do a whole damn essay here, but lastly you're forgeting that back in those days creators, writters & animators were exteremely limited by time or tight deadlines, budget & freedom. Now they get better budgets, more resources at their disposal such as technology & almost all the creative freedom they need & the end product more often than not is shite. Sure maybe from their perspective it's better for them.
