Sorry Miller was way past it by 2000. Gymnastics is not the kind of sport you take over 3 years off and come back to elite and are where you used to be. Thank of Dawes as an example. Dawes was one of the top in the mid 90s too, and often beat Miller when she hit. She came back and did make the team but what was she is Sydney? Probably the worst member of the 4th place U.S team, not able to contribute a decent score anywhere but bars, and something around the 30th best gymnast in Sydney.

Would have been nice to have Shannon at the Olympics for moral support, as well as her fierce competitiveness. On beam it would have helped, and they probably could have used her on one of the other events as well.

I dont think bars would have made any difference. The team did great on bars in Sydney. Their counting scores were 9.725, 9.750, 9.700, 9.700. They threw out a 9.662.I think beam and floor it is possible she could have helped, but she would have had to up her routines big time from trials. She didnt get big scores on them at trials even so it would depend how much she could improve since then.

she has long retired, and was inducted into the hall of fame.

I agree. She didnt take advantage of the Code of Points very well to put together the correct combinations to get her the points she needed. Dawes I thought did really well at putting the skills where they were needed to rack the points she needed for Start Values.
