We worked at a camp for troubled children and realized that, even at such a young age, most people still had no clue what these kids were going through. At least that's what I think it says and what I remember from some article or another on the song. Like many things it's up for interpretation, like "American Pie", the Bible, and apparently the age and skill of certain gymnasts.
