Funny, I don't even remember feeling "robbed" when we (they!) got the Bronze. I think because I watched it with my parents - as I had their previous triumphs when I still lived at home - and we knew that they were simply peerless. I hate political voting (Eurovision anyone?) but quality stands the test of time. Christopher Dean should have been knighted.

I so love this version of Face The Music and Dance.I know it was arranged specifically for them for the Olympics. Anyone know if this recording was ever released?P.S. This definitely was the highlight of all the skating performances at the '94 games. And I love how they went back to the classical roots of ice dancing while everyone was headed in a modern direction (which they of course invented). Work it out Torvill & Dean!

me and my m8s took the day off from uni and went skating to win our own gold ( none of us can skate btw!!) They were winners in all our minds, bloody judges......,proably aboout time we had some new hopes isn't it? lets start a campaign lol, what was the bbc series about skating called? v v funny the ones I watched.

Before the fall of the Soviet Union, the Russians were very good. After the fall, I felt rather sorry for the athletes who were struggling without the old levels of financial backing, yet who needed to win in order to get a better life.However, this does not exclude all the corrupt judging, instigated in a vain attempt to retain former glory.

There aren't words for the speed through the turns, intricate handholds and footwork of the last 90 seconds. On a tape I have, commentator Tracy Wilson says that G&P were by far the fastest team of the night. It doesn't matter how fast the footwork was when they were weren't skating in dance holds. They also had long separations that weren't penalized. I have said nice things about G&P before, but watching them side by side again with T&D, on this night there really was no contest.

I thought this version was much better then the Europeans one. It was a huge improvement, and kudos to them for the changes they made. Yet the judges liked it even alot less then Europeans. I dont understand it at all.

Yes except for the ladies event where the Russians mediocrity for so long was too much for them to even try to politically push for it seemed Olympic golds were meant to be reserved for Russians, or atleast that was their attitude and they put in the work behind the scenes to make sure it happened. Many times they deserved it, but even times they didnt or maybe didnt they seemed to get it, again with the exception of ladies. |
