The classic song from 1980 "LONGER" By The late Dan Fogelberg is to me one of the most sweetest love songs ever made and everytime i hear it. That sure brings me precious memories of my last year in junior high school. Thanx very much for the song.

Hi Vee...I agree 100%. This song is meant to be! In my opinion...the "simplicity" of the lyrics is the moving factor! A basic love song...You and I being fans...we know his depth of song writing and have enjoyed his performances for years. Isn't it a sad time...he will be missed terribly!!!

Hi Ourback..I don't believe he realized it's effect on people(this song). He did say, (I heard him), it became an "elevator song". I believe as a song-writer, some songs come forth, and you may love them more or less th an others..but some songs are meant to be. As is this one. The lyrics are incredible, but DF wrote so many much richer songs. Great artist : )Vee

I too, had tears in my eyes. This was the first time, I had ever heard someone cover his song. David A. did a good cover,but he is no DF! I did stand and applaud David for a job well done. I agree with Dan,Longer was a simply written song, with a great melody. It's not the lyrics that make the song for me,it's Dan's vocals and his special way of composing the music, that melts my heart and touches my soul.

If I read the interview correctly, Dan wrote this on a beach in Hawaii, with Maggie(1st wife) not to far behind. No disrespect for Jean.I like the obscured songs that wasn't heard on the radio.I don't believe there is a song that he hasn't written that I don't like.Longer was simply written with a great melody. I do agree with Dan on that song. I love Since You've Asked and Tell Me to My Face from Twin Sons(1st).Dan did not write them, but with his talent, he made them his own.

American Idol tonight...Lil' David (David A.), as I call him, is my favorite A.I. pick. "Longer" is my all time favorite love song and has been since the first time I heard it "YEARS AGO" and of course, Dan Fogelberg one of my all time favorite singers. I'm sitting there tonight watching A.I. & "Longer" was the producer's pick of song for Lil' David to sing. I had tears in my eyes...it just all came together for me.
