erm,did u select the correct layer?if u want to clone something from layer 1 to layer 2,u must select layer 1,press alt to set the point,then select layer 2,and paint there

..I tried everything you did.I selected the clone stamp tool, pressed and held alt while I clicked on my white background. Then, I went over to a big purple pillow and tried to paint over it [while not clicking ALT] and it didn't work. Nothing turned white.. nothing turned any color.Help?!?
