The soul-selling is a myth, of course-- just like bands today 'worship the devil' to increase their mystique. RJ didn't invent delta blues-- he actually comes pretty late in the history of the music, his recordings being made only little before WWII. People had been making blues records for almost 20 years before RJ made any.RJ takes at least two decades of blues music (if not ten) and adds to it his superior technique and strong personality, making it his own.
