Originally recorded in 1983 for the NASA documentary 'For All Mankind', the release of which was delayed until 1989. Eno released it on the album 'Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks' in 1983. This is one of the most beautiful and ethereal pieces of music I've ever heard. I want this piece of music played at my own funeral.

Nice video. Some very nice photo's too. First heard this on 28 Days Later and knew immediately I should download the soundtrack for that film.

some of us i guess don't belive in that hollywood heaven most people think of when they hear the word. For me this tune is a bit of heaven too...

the sunlight in some of the photographs makes them seem almost "heavenly", but i think that the idea of death and finally being relieved of the stress of life suits the song fine. maybe the person who put the montage together didn't necessarily have in mind placing images that were relevant to the title, but more like images that suited the music

Why is this song associated with cemetaries?, oh, I guess I can make sense of that with the title 'An Ending(Ascent)', which can mean an ending of ones life with the associated ascent into spirit and heaven,....ok,.., so then where's the pictures of heaven or heavenly clouds something to that effect with the ascent, I don't see any 'ascent' depictions here.

It hardly gets any better than this.Danny Boyle had a brilliant idea in putting this one into 28 weeks Later. It is a perfect song for the scene, like the characters are in the Eye of the Storm....

Danny Boyle Is a big fan of Eno's.Didn't this song play in Sunshine as well ?In any case, this tune has everything. I agree with sirmelancholia, although you might wanna check out Dunwich Beach, Autumn 1960 by Eno and Suddenly the Trees Are Giving Way by Ulrich Schnauss (type Suddenly the Trees Ar Giving youll find it on YT)
