I was 13 watching these games at my grandparent's house during summer holiday from school. This was the goal of the tournament for me and is the only goal from the championships I remember. Of course there was Maradona's goal against England everyone still talks about but this one has a certain magic to it also.

Totally right, Jennings was in the top 5 keepers in the world at the time. I think it was just a weird and unexpected angle, with massive swerve and power. Josimar basically hit an almost perfect shot from there. I wonder where he is now, cos at Sunderland we could probably still use him!!! ;)

That was a real sickener of a goal - watching it aged 17 in B'hinch. Especially after the heroics and miracles of '82. Gerry Armstrong's goal against Spain, Billy Hamilton's "big welly", Mal Donaghy's sending off, epic scenes.Back then, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE able to walk or easily be carried, was in the street dancing and hugging each other. It was euphoric, just a massive dream-like escape from the Troubles.

yes, i remember, and i was 12, and our team, hungary, was the best in europe in 1984 and 85. that year in march we won against brasil, 3-0. first match in mexico, 0-6 against the soviet union...
