Perhaps the lousy voice acting and the fact that it ruined everything FFX was so good at? Those were the main reasons why I hated it. Yuch.

This was the first FF game I ever played. I think I was nine at that time or something. I still remember my niece showing me this video and I swear I was gaping at the screen the entire time so...I played FFVII later on but somehow I still like this one better. Even though most people say that FFVII was the best of the entire series. I don't know. I guess this one earned its special little place in my heart with the opening.

i think that the one thing thatFF8 did better than any game in the world at the time and for almost 5 years after, was to get such great grafix on the water. Water is the hardest thing in the worl to duplicat with grafix, look at any game today and youll see the same thing, water is a BITCH to recreate.

Way better in every way, but it's a matter of opinion. Most people like 7 better for some reason, but I think these characters are more interesting, as well as the story, the battle system, etc.

best to play them both and decide for yourself, my opinion is that ffvii is far superior to ffviii, fviii has major holes in the plot, things just don't add up, and i just didn't like the story all that much, too much emphasis on people controlling the masses. ffvii had a few plot holes too, but not nearly as bad, and the story line was a lot better.. I feel like i remember everything from 7 and only remember a little from 8 even though i played 8 much later.

eight is my second least favorite, behind x-2, which was terrible. My order for FF from best game to worst is 6, 7, 4, 10, 12, 8, 10-2 (haven't played any of the others) 6,7,4, and 10 were really good, 12 was marginal, 8 wasn't very good, but i played it through to the end (as with all of them) 10-2 was horrible. I don't have close to enough of a remaining character count to say why :(
