The language is Gaelic which many people today refer to as Irish.

"If you were not born hearing this and brought speaking this language" Nonsense. You can be speaking Gaelic in 3 months. Just spend a summer on the Aran Islands...I've been trying to teach myself Welsh. Good luck wi' that, you say. Celtic languags are harder than Romance or Germanic languages, but not as tough as Korean. How good do you have to be? Read song titles without looking a fool? Call Berlitz. Have a phone conversation? Well, if you live in a major city you might find a teacher...

THANK you for posting the original Lyrics.A friend of mine told me once that translations of poetry are like a young wives: they can be beautiful or they can be faithful. I told him that he was a sexist pig and a few other things besides. And I laughed at his joke anyway. I'm too old to know about young wives, but the rest of his statement is well taken. My gripe with the Celtic Women is that they are very, amazingly, unbelievingly beautiful. You catch my drift.

I hope I can see them on their tour in Germany... But the tickets are so expensive... =/ But I'll try my best to see them because I really love their music... =)

I wonder if Mairead ever has a bad hairday, not to mention the rest of the girls.

Even if I don't understand a lot of the lyrics, I love singing to it! It's a beautiful, slow, yet upbeat song. If that makes sense ;]

Gaelic. Usually when we (plain, boring) Americans do not understand the words the girls are singing, it's because they are singing in (Irish) Gaelic. I think it's a beautiful language but, from what I know about it, it's a very, very difficult language to 'just learn'. If you were not born hearing this and brought speaking this language, your entire life, as beautiful as it is, it's a tough one to learn.
