This is a kinescope, which means somebody put a movie camera in front of the TV when the show was broadcast. (It was in color.) Sad to say, I saw it when it was broadcast. I could be wrong, but I recall it as '65 or '66. And I thought they were kidding around-- that they were making fun of the song. Now I'm not so sure.

The Carol Burnett show was never broadcast in black and white. It was in color from the beginning. What you're seeing here is a black and white kinescope copy of the original color broadcast.
