very well said, I grin when ever I watch that part...finding myself easily feeling the same way about things he speaks of, and other things in todays 'modern world' as if becomes more fouler by the moment...

Another movie I have GOT to see sometime soon.

The most chilling thing about the film is how easy it is to empathize with Travis. How many of us have felt disgust & revulsion at the world around us I wonder? How many of us have seen people like Iris we wanted to save in one way or another? Many will quote the mirror scene endlessly but the most effective piece of dialogue to me is his thoughts in the cab. "Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets." Not an uncommon thought Travis. Not an uncommon thought at all.

I love this trailer because it really captures the mood and essence of the movie without giving away too much of the plot. If only more trailers today could be like this.

My favourite movie ever! Fantasticly played by DeNiro, brilliantly directed by Scorcesse, haunting soundtrack by Hermann and amazingly written by Schrader. Easily one of the best movies ever put to celluloid, and for me, DeNiro's and Scorcesse's best collaboration.

This is a great movie...very intense. I liked DeNiro best in 'Once upon a time in America' though, but that's a totally different movie of course.

In 1976, 'Taxi Driver' was nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor (Robert DeNiro), Best Supporting Actress (Jodie Foster) and Best Original Score (Bernard Herrmann). Amazingly, Scorsese DID NOT get nominated as Best Director. 'Taxi Driver' DID NOT win any Oscars, and lost out to 'Rocky' for Best Picture. |
