Still trying to scrounge up a ride. Work is keeping me over the weekend, and most folks will be gone by then. Anyone know how to get there by plane/train/bus?

No, live steel is never used in competitive combat in the SCA. The is rapier fencing, but it is with blunt weapons. The armored combat is all with rattan.

Actually, there are rapier battles. I have mostly seen them at Estrella War and Pennsic War. Sometimes the rapier battles even include rubber-band pistols.Armored (or "rattan" or "heavy") combat is the main form of combat in the SCA. It is how you become knight and king. Comments below describe the weapons forms for armored combat.

I accidentally removed this comment when I tried to reply to it:"I'm new to SCA, are all wars fought with the rataan weapons? Is live steel ever used?" |
