While I agree that it's not as involved in the mathematics as it could be, but it's like the old rule for writing a math book, the order of magnitude of potential readers decreases for every formula you add. I suppose it's probably true for movies too.

This is one of the better "dumbed down" computer related movies, especially for its time...the actors and attention to detail make up for the simplicity of it for the mass audience. I enjoyed it.
