It's blown out of the water when it comes to the myth of russian grunts climbing on thousands of tanks and throwing a molotov ontop of them, it happened to only a handfull, even with the ferdinand, most of them were destroyed by their own crews or by big artillery not the russians grunts who climbed on them.

Russian grunts would climb on these things and dump gas down their vents. especially the Ferdinan which didn't have a hull gun.

these tanks were developed at the closing stages when germany started to lose, it was cheaper and faster to produce tanks without traversible turrets and hold em in defensive positions
