Now Playing in the YouTube Screening Room: http://youtube.com/ytscreening... http://www.nfb.ca/ryan2005 OSCARS for Best Short AnimationRyan is based on the life of Ryan Larkin, a Canadian animator who, 30 years ago, produced some of the most influential animated films of his time. In the film, we hear the voices of prominent animators and artists discussing Ryan's work, and from waitresses, mission-house caretakers and homeless people who make up Ryan's life. These voices speak through strange, twisted, and disembodied, computer-generated characters--which combine to reflect the film's creator, Chris Landreth. In the words of Anais Nin, "We don't see things as they are. We see things as we are."Some strong language. Viewer discretion is advised.

its all the apt adjectives of Ryan that confuse me, when I forget all that it just seems like a tricky day, the kind I know well and am gratefull to see others have, because if this is true I dont need an explanation but enjoy the ride,my love soon to follow for the other poor bastard, you or me.....

0.0I wasn't expecting such a long explaination. Thanks! Now I understandit it.

I think it represents negative thoughts that often overwhelm people and lead to depression. The thoughts (illustrated as the colourful hairs)eat away at the animated characters' physical bodies, representing how negative thoughts can eat away at our perceptions of ourselves and our self esteem. At the part where he tells Felicity that he still loves her, notice that part of his face begins to grow back because of the positive thoughts of the moment. I think it's very beautiful.

It was ok... but... what does the colorful hair or what ever it is, represent?

Impresionante, nunca habia visto algo asi, a pesar de que soy un fan del anime. Que forma tan visual de contar una historia. Gracias.
