Tu-144 is a classic example of copycat engineering. Start with pictures of what someone else (The Brits, French, et al) built and try to make something like that. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Buran was another example.

TU 144 was build by TUPOLEV, there was only 12 concords from Russia. The russians didn`t used those machines after that crash in Paris. One of Russian CONCORD TU 144 is standing now in museum in Germany.TU is very famous russian mark. There are thousands of boards flying in the world. Most famous is of course TU 154.

The TU144 is just a copy of the Concorde, like the TU-4 was a copy of the B-29 and the LI2 was a copy of the DC-3. Russians copy airplanes they don't design them.Learn from history people

A French Mirage fighter collied with it. Nothing else to know. Shame such an interesting aircraft was lost and it's crew, even if it was a copy.

I wonder if there's any longer footage of this crash or the flight itself. You only see short snippets like this one which are heavily edited and of bad quality. The plane really did look as Soviet as possible. :) |
