I don't like the size of the screen on this netbook. If the netbook itself was smaller, it would be okay, but the glossy black border really belittles the screen, which prevents me from buying it.

No, but you can download something called Pidgin, which can you log onto Msn network from. I don't think it'll support the audio clips and nudges etc, but it will be able to chat to your friends while they're using Msn Messenger (which I believe is actually called Windows Live Messenger) along with anyone on AIM, Yahoo Messenger, and even ICQ if anyone you know still uses it.
