He'd probably be doing worse had he won. Ever see one of those Idol contracts? You virtually sign over damn near everything for about the first 3 or 5 years of your recording and touring. And don't think the record company won't have a say so in what you sing or how you sing it. They own you for that period you signed on for. It is actually better for him that he didn't win.

If he won it's not like he would be doing worse. Everyone keeps trying to justify him not winning but it really doesn't matter. All the contestants have to sign the same contracts for the show, the only difference for the winner is an assured 1 million dollar recording contract, and I guess the title. But clearly the title isn't everything.
