I see your Chaos theory and raise you an electro magnet. By this i mean that it makes perfect sense that chaos theory would make slight errors in bounce trajectory occur sometimes, perhaps often, however the problem with pipes is no issue if you simply have electro magnets switching, on and off, on and off, at the right times. Therefore directing the balls in the proper direction at a tube intersection or even a shot or catch.

Nice. This is one of my favorite scenes from Animusic.

Part 2 of my answer is this was probably not done how many of you think with them trying to time the sound to match the visuals. Instead each string, cymbal, drum, Xylophone key would be programmed to make a specific sound when struck by a ball then they simply need to tell a ball to leave pipe A, strike instrument B, then re-enter pipe C.

I'm a great believer in anythings possible but for all intentsand purposes chaos theory prevails and the strikes (balls against strings, cymbals etc.) would change trajectories and besides how to you get one ball to pass one way in a series of pipes without others going that way.

There are too many variables for this to work with today's technology. The movement of the cymbals or string would throw the balls off track. Maybe this could be done with more percise equipment than people have today, but all variales considered, it wouldn't be worth the effort. Possible, to a degree.

possible.

HERE'S A SURVEY FOR YOU! "Do you think one could REALLY create this machine? Why or Why not?" It would be best for you to use the "Reply" button,so that everyone could read the results of this survey riht HERE, instead of having to go through to try to find ther resultsto this survey.
