Yeah. Actually heroin, oxycontin, dilaudid,etc. work on the pleasure centers of the brain. Dopamine more than anything. "They" flood the pleasure centers of the brain. You build up tolerance{ it takes more and more} and eventually {I believe} the "high" is simply "relief" from the anxiety and discomfort of "coming down." Yes. Opiates drastically reduce the sex drive and make you very constipated but if you use them long enough it is difficult to feel pleasure again after. To reconstitute.

Opiates have a way of "killing" the sex drive....in a way thats the beauty of them.

If you want to read the most revealing book ever on the Rolling Stones read "Up and Down with The Rolling Stones" by Tony Sanchez........Tony Sanchez was Keith's connection and "gopher" during the heaviest of the drug years. Tony's nickname was "Spanish Tony.".....The book is hard to find now........Though imperfect it still gives you the best glimpse and "feel" for Keith Richard, Anita Pallenberg and the Stones {essentially Mick, Keith and Brian} at this time.....I've read them all.

The picture reveals a lot. They were all dissolute junkies with the possible exception of the girl at the right who I assume is Gretchen Parsons, Gram's wife, although she was a drug user too. This picture was from when Gram and Gretchen stayed at Keith's estate in France. Keith and Gram got on like gangbusters but Anita had no liking for either him or Gretchen. Finally she said they had to go. Grams was so heavily into drugs it was thought he might die on the premises.

One of my favorite pics of Anita and Keith. Although Keith & Anita were in a bad way, as someone pointed out, it still epitomizes the Exile period in their history. Exile is my fav album, too Amus!
