Well I don't think any one drummer can claim throne to all techniques. Each has strengths and weaknesses, if you want to call them weaknesses, where others excel.Sure a handful may have somewhat better hands, but over all not many could ever come close to Donati.The guy is a beast!!!!

chris adler ??? it seems to me you haven't grasp almost anything of Donati's playing... You'll have to go a long way technically to grasp smt from his playing... and the retro guys may have quick hands, but it's about playing with your whole body... and a lot of dynamics... Dave Weckl says to his students: "Can you imagine how much playing is needed to get to Donati's level?"... oh yes! I saw this on a documentary movie of Planet-X... But ones who can imagine are those who have a certain level!

Virgil may have (and I really believe he does) one of the world's most advanced polyrhythm proficiencies and foot technique but concerning his hands... He still has a long way to go. Type in "Jim Kilpatrick", "Rick Beckham" or "Buddy Rich at the hague" and watch those guys' chops in action. Unreal. Virgil is still one of the best though.
