Me too. The music supports it. Tolling bells at the beginning signalling the impending doom, the funeral march tempo, then the build up and the distorted spazz-out breakdown of all order at the end.

you should check out Cult of Luna, from Sweden. Listen to "waiting for you" and "finland", awesome tracks!

I always imagined this song is about the end of the world, how meteors and tidal waves wash over the planet and in the end I get the image of floating in an ice-cold ocean..

No matter how awful I feel, this song always lightens my mood. No other song on Earth can do that for me.

It's nearly a year I'm into NEUROSIS and it's almost a year that this song carries me away with every time I listen to it. Long live NEUROSIS!!!
lettertogod (September 11, 2008 at 1:37 pm)
I guess you're right. I've just started to get into Neurosis stuff and at first listens it messed me up that at such a climactic point the song just stopped abruptly. But what you say does make sense.

No, the end makes perfect sense. This song is pretty much the spiritual equivalent of the end of the world, so it makes sense that the song simply falls apart into abrupt silence in its final seconds, as if it had been destroyed. |
