Jascha Heifetz plays Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35: I. Allegro moderato*NOTE: This was from a movie, so Heifetz skips a LOT of the first movement due to time constraints. He skips nearly half of the piece, and so does the orchestra. So please don't ask for second or third movements because I do not have them. You also get to see a bit of Heifetz acting at the end. A great treat!Conductor: Fritz ReinerThis is my favorite rendition of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. I think Heifetz played a bit faster than in his recording.

I love how awful of an actor Heifetz is. But when he picks up the violin, how can anyone care? =Dcarrottoponcrak - If you're feeling the music, what's wrong with letting it show on your face?

Fritz Reiner was an amazing conductor! He made such simple movements, but he was so strict and had such a temper that he scared all his symphony performers into being amazing! Jascha Heifetz is beyond even Fritz Reiner's capabilities! The two of them, whether they got along or not, were amazing together!

if someone is THIS good, they have the right to be pompous don't u think?

The cuts are awful, but he plays like a god.

That depends on who is playing. Lots of great masters made facial features. I do not myself, but it does not make people who do wrong.

A lot of negative comments about the great artists spring from what Rachmaninoff (and Shakespeare before him) referred to as the green-eyed monster; that is, envy.

Pompous? Not at all. The look on his and other great performers' faces is one of intense concentration. And as to no longer being celebrated, that's said only by underachievers.
