when you reach this guy's ageyou can say : learn the form, master the form, forget the form.I agree that when demonstrating , do what you like . if your a newbie stick to your form or you might get lost.As for true masters, they are way pass your forms which you value so much to argue about.Rating true skills of a master by mere watching his demo is not acceptable

youare correct he is only preforming some of the tiger hand and no crane hand. but what you need to understand that this is demonstration for lay people. if you whant to sea the real fu hok may be you should take some of his seminars, or go to hong kong take a class, or maybe you should do little bid of reaserch on who lam chan fai is before making ignorant coments

What routine he performing...? tiger and crane being the most famous form of hung gar and there is 10 tiger claws and 3 cranes in the form. He only perform 6 out of 10 and the direction of the tiger claw is incorrect. On top of that, his version is a much more simplify then the actual form has. I knew this is because Sung Sao Poo, is my grand fater's name. He is direct student of Lim Sai Weng as well who came to Singapore.

and who is your father and what makes him anexpert in hung gar. the person in this clip is a direct desendend of lam family. the way they do hung gar is the way it was praktised by lam sai wing.

theres the issue of the forms themselves being too long for performance. but i think theres a good number of grandmasters (this isn't characteristic to just the hung ga system) who don't want to display their forms in their entirety. i guess they dont want ppl to learn the forms from videos, so they only give a little taste in performance. ppl who want to learn will obviously have to seek instruction from them.

This has got be my personal favourite lineage of Hung kuen. All of the practioners expression of the form looks beautiful. |
