can anybody see the similarities between this vid and the current economic crisis? ...big fat corporate f*cks running companies into the ground and taking off with a big pay cheque or is it just me? ...meh ..

the point was life is different for everyone, and we all learn differently. We don't all have the same lessons. The point of the best friend ditching was that it was irony, and he was learning his own way. The point of the film to teach the VIEWER not the characters.

"Life is not fair." Garth could have learn that lesson in the book, but he experienced it, and that is what made the diffence. Life is learned at a different pace for different people. But we all learn the lessons of life in the end.

Brilliant. Not only an interesting and poignant message, but I forgot I was watching a film. Not easy to do for me as I tend to psychoanalyze a film's techniques when it doesn't grab me.Well Done.
