Sophisticated Electronics inside this first version of the Vectron model makes it fly. It flies similar to a helicopter and is really a lot of fun. There are newer versions now too as it is still available. Hope you enjoyed more nostalgia from Mr. Herbert's Science class

Your right about the batteries. Im sure Hobby People (the hobby store) can get you gears.

Ya i actually got my flying saucer at Dillards. Dont know of any other store that carried the product. Ive been to hobby town here in Dallas and they told me my best bet was finding the gears on another toy haha. But anyway, thanks for the help. Ill keep searching because the thing really was fun to fly. The best part was no batteries!

I think if you contact hobby people, (they were called Hobby Shack when I first bought this) and tell them you have an original Vectron. They can tell you where to get the gears if any are available. My servo gear was from a Kraft servo no longer made either.

Yes, digital cameras pick it up, but you cannot see it with the naked eye.

Thanks kindly.

I was very excited to see this video. I got a vectron a long time ago but the smaller gears are almost all cracked and will not allow the vectron to take off. You said you used a 10 tooth servo gear. I have searched and havent found any gears that match. Can anyone tell me where to get replacements or what kind of gears i need to look for?

oh, and inside the dome of the Vectron, didn't you see the infared emitter blinking during the video?

reminds me of the alien micro fly except you have to keep buying batteries for the microfly and this is also bigger. great video dave.

Over 15 years ago! The original was totally controllable, not like the toys you describe. But it was a lot more expensive.

when was the vectron sold? A few years ago I tried out one in a store...looked just like this. BUT it was uncontrollable, the vertical lift was either too low or too high with no inbetween. probably was NOT a vectron, or was crashed alot before...
