We need to learn how to sail before we can go sailing, if you know what I mean. Earth to Mars is a long-haul flight.

ISS has been a justification for using the space shuttle. But at least it's quite a good technologic demonstrator for future, larger and more complex space platform. The experience is unique

I'm in favour of space *exploration*, but this isn't "exploration". It's orbital height is about same as distance from NY to Washington DC. The ISS is doing nothing that wasn't done by the Skylab & Salyut in the '70s (~35 years ago!) and it is a deception to say ISS is a stepping stone to anywhere, it's just $100bn worth of pointlessness.

I was able to see the ISS fly over here in Middle Tennessee a few weeks ago.Very cool to see.

The earth isn't overpopulated, it is grossly mismanaged. All of the nearly 7 billion men, women & children on earth would fit shoulder to shoulder in a space the size of a small U.S. county. There is a big die-off coming, however, but it won't involve spaying or neutering anyone (Revelation 16-19). |
