privatepigg, it is a sad fact that usually the people who speak of white culture do so SOLELY at the denigration of other cultures, whereas it's not nearly as often that the reverse is true. So while the person to whom you are replying perhaps should not have assumed, it's understandable that s/he did.

Well I know where u r coming from but the guy is pretty cool and apparently the song had the parental impact upon him. Personally I relate the song to lost love. But even men get emotional. I think emotions are for individuals and to lump women as nurturing and men as hard is not accurate. I believe each person is different.

Yeah, there are other more appropriate parent/child songs. Freud would have a field day with this. Yes, the song is about reminiscing, but some people need to get a life outside of their child!

So it's OK for blacks to have a culture and talk about "themselves" using words like "us" and "our," referring to fellow black people, but if white people have a common culture, they are cave dwellers?

and your comment is reminiscent of the days when white boys and white girls had the social consciousness and progressiveness of cavedwellers.

Wonderful work. Reminiscent of the days when white boys and white girls had their own distinct and wonderfully vibrant culture in the USA and UK.
