That's a logical explanation. But I've heard of and seen people use humidifiers while performing.

It's actually a "feedback buster." I've never heard of anyone keeping a humidifier in their guitar while they're performing. That would be silly. It's just a rubber circle that fits in the hole to keep feedback from happening between the mic in the guitar and any mic on stage. It makes the guitar sound different up close, but not in this situation, because all of what the audience hears comes from the internal mic or pick-up in the guitar.

It's actually a humidifier. It does make the guitar sound different, but it's mainly used for on-stage performing to keep the acoustic guitar at a certain temperature.
