Heathens and Christians, I am compelled to offend those I deem offensive. But it is true, better to enjoy the music so it unites and not divides us.

We all pick what makes us feel understood and loved...what resonates with our sense of love and safety. There's nothing wrong with wanting to feel like there is something bigger out there that gets us and has our backs...what is conflicting is when we use our "God" to pick on or hurt others...what has our backs then isn't God in the sense that I believe it's supposed to be...it's something hurtful and unintended by the teachings of people like Jesus...I say, let there be love for the sake of it

I'm a Christian, and I love this song. It may be because it is about a man who did EVERYTHING out of love. We all may have different beliefs on what kind of man He is, but I am grateful that He is my friend. Great song by a great band.

"God" the word, does not mean much to me, if anything, but i think you are right that the focus of love is in the exaggerated story of Jesus. It just gets to me when people are so offended by not taking a literal interpretation of the bible.

This song has absolutely nothing to do with God. Jesus was an amazing man who got screwed! I find it ridiculous how Christianity stripped the Jews of their finest, and blamed them because the Romans killed him. He is a man whose footsteps we should follow in, not live by. The bible is simply a wonderful metaphor, not a literal explanation. "Eat this bread, think of it as me. Drink this wine and dream it will be the blood of our children all around."

He is agnostic. He claims that there is a source of all things but if you give it concern for us, it makes it smaller. He says that God is everything he doesn't know, but the idea that God looks out for us and takes sides is ridiculous. If you look at the lyrics, it's clear that he interprets this simply from a loving point of view. Jesus was just an amazing man who was filled with love. All his miracles were simply mitzvahs or amazing works of love.
