I can't get enough of the Bases!!!! They make my body shake. And the singing of God's Judgement makes it all the more intense. May Mozart shine in Heaven.

once you have listened to the entire work many times (as i have - the requiem is one of my favourite pieces) it is obvious at which point mozart's genius abandons the music. as nachtmarchen correctly points out, mozart completed the vocal parts up until bar 8 of the lacrimosa, and left instruction for the completion of the intrumental parts. hats off to sussmayer for doing his best, but if he had the ability to compose this movement, i can't imagine the end of the requiem seeming so out of place

totally agree

listen to the whole thing you will find that there is repitition in lyrics at the end of mozarts actual work only the music changes and then its not a complete morph

The Introitus is indeed the only part of the Requiem fully orchestrated by Mozart, he did however complete all the vocal and bass parts up to bar 8 of the Lacrimosa, on top of that he wrote a lot of the important instrumental parts - the trombone solo in the Tuba Mirum, the cascading first violin in the Dies Irae, etc. Great parts of the Domine Jesu and the Hostias are also by Mozart.

I doubt Mozart only completed the Introitus. I've listened to podcasts and read some things explaining how he made it about 3/5's of the way there and let Sussmayr do the rest. Hence why I probably don't like the ending as well as the beginning. I think in the final part (Communion), the ending is simply a repetition of the ending of the Kyrie, so Sussmayr's creative talent must have ran dry.

awesome

It's funny how Mozart most likely didn't even write this part. Evidence says that he only finished "Requiem Aeternam" before he died. Sussmayr most likely wrote this.
