Haiti is poor due to:1. French colonial contribution.2. The international boycott of the new nation of 1804.3. The French debt of 1838.4. The United States Occupation, 1915-1934.5. Post World War II United States domination. 6. Slave-like labor systems in the early republic.7. The elite's protection of its wealth.8. Haitian corruption.9. Human rights violations as a tool of oppression. So it's a mix of external factors and their own damn fault.

I agree with ef11226. How did you graduate high school and get accepted to college? You have no writing skills or even class.

Message to Fellow Americans...read the posts from Haitians. Realize that no matter what you do in Haiti..the only interpretation will the age old whine of Imperialism! Racism! Exploitation!. Do not lift one finger to help this place unless you enjoy gettting spit in the face for your efforts.

Titid is no longer in Haiti, he is part of the past, and the country doesnt have any time to waste by looking back, it needs to look forward, to move in that direction. As someone who works in law enforcement, I can state that 7500 police officers for a country roughly the size of Maryland, with the population of NYC is woefully inadequate. Haiti needs more than 7500 street patrol officers alone! Ideally, a competent, professional force that totals 30,000 would then impact the kidnapping plague

This is not about Aristid--but about the nation that elected him.
