Whey isn't vegan--it's derived from dairy.There are other options than soy, though. Brown rice is very popular, and pea protein (not as gross as it sounds) is also pretty common. Some supplements blend all three.As for "the best" it's a very personal thing.

You can get fat very easily as a vegan too. Rembember, they are allowed to eat weat products, propably the unhealtiest food for the human beeing causing cancer and a lot of other diseases. I agree that killing animals is cruel, it is not true though that meat is so unhealthy. It is bread, pasta, in general all weat products that have caused so many diseases in the western world.
