Hey,i just bought this thing but when i try to record vocals or guitar in cubase or fruity loops it makes a strange background noise,,,i tried everything but this noise is very annoying,,and goes like a high pitch hissing noise,,Help?any ideas?

Yes, astor is right. but to be more specific...NEVER apply phantom power to a ribbon mic! as far as a dynamic mic goes, it may not damage it, but it does not need it. so try not getting in the habit. If you have a balanced connection to a dynamic mic and the phantom power is applied, it might not get damaged, but just stop it from working until the power is turned off. An unbalanced connection, and it wont make a difference.

it gives power to certain types of microfones like condenser mics. use it carefully you can damage gear that doesn't need it
