Awsome! I got chills down my spine around 36 minutes into it, when the lady who was bitten smiled that creepy smile.

This is the absolute German original Vampyr indeed, with very nice later English subtitles, note the unusual silent film style title plates in this early soundfilm - loosely based on LeFanu's vampire novella Carmilla & In A Glass Darkly, it's a powerful mix of stunning effects come alive in gothic dreamscapes & ghostly shadows, all enveloped in haunting & original sounds... it's a lyrically creepy dream within an eerie dream... very rare share.

such a perfectionist. the crew would constantly have arguments with him, like dreyer: "i shall request slightly trembling oak foliage in the upper left corner"actors: "ah come on, who will ever notice?"dreyer: "i shall request slightly trembling oak foliage in the upper left corner"cameraman: "it's too difficult, let's just forget it"dreyer (slightly louder now): "i shall request slightly trembling oak foliage in the upper left corner"etc etc untill he finally got his way.
