Does everyone hold in their coughs until the music is over, or is it just covered by the music (in something quiet like this, that'd be pretty hard!) Whenever movements finish, the audience seem to release themselves in some way lol, I guess it's more murmurings and things

At first I couldn't understand why a version so much quicker than the one I have still has the same duration, but then I released there's a repeat after the main thematic material. I checked my copy of the score, and lo, it's in there! So my version is shortened - criminal! Again, too fast for my liking, but more true to 'andante cantabile' - mine's more like 'largo'

If I'm honest with myself, this speed probably better matches the 'andante' direction - however, I agree with you that it sounds a lot better played slower! And I think the first movement is done too slowly too! I think the final is spot on, and I haven't seen the third - it actually bores me!
