Well said, mate. Terms like "Goth" or "Death blabla" didn´t exist then. First time I heard of "Gothic Punk" was in London, after the Bauhaus split-up in Summer 83.The original expression, we used the years before, was "Positive Punk".And yes, the Prunes were of their own kind.

Their music is atmospheric, well done, and doesn't let up. The style, the singing, the drumming, and everything put together stand out. We'll never hear music like this again. Costumes are great, too.

The term 'gothic' wasn't used in these days. Usually different terms were used (not just one, people just made up stuff like art-punk). The Prunes themselves once referred to it as 'Art-F***', and these days it's called post-punk...what it really comes down to is that labels are silly. The Virgin Prunes were one of a kind.

this is not deathrock because deathrock was born in the USA..this is theatre-gothic-pOST PUNK FRom ireland and they were the only band with this beautiful disturbing live performances....

one of those groups your glad you seen live. i seen them in bristol during the eighties. at the time they were most definately unique.
