ben harper did not design the weissenborn.he was just the one who made it famous.the one that ben usually plays is a pre-world war II era instrument.waaay too old for him to have designed.

It's not a dobro or a dulcimer, it's an accoustic lap steel also called a weissenborn. John is playing on a weissenborn designed by Mister Ben Harper!Great music. I really love the rythm of his songs.

It's called a Dulcimer... It's the newer style of them...or so says one of my buddies who plays it...
