Movies about gangsters can be great in fact some of the best movies ever made are about gangsters. Goodfellas is a great movie about some really terrible gangsters. Now if the movie glorifies the gangster, that is not good. It is a matter of point of view-many people would say a movie about a gangster glorifies the gangster. That is not always the case. American Gangster does not glorify Frank Lucas. It shows him as a tragic figure-and I am sure at best that is this movie does for Barnes.

Man, I love you! America has such a violent culture to the point of elevating criminals like Nicky and Frank. I am black and it sucks that while the others community are elevating themselves and making money, we are worshiping the same people who had destroyed our communities. Fuck Nicky, uneducated loser!

Their is nothing under the sun that this american goverment does not know your doing. The American Govermen allows you to do it as long as it is detrimental towards your community and or black people. When you take your drug proceeds and begin to build life saving institutions then they arrest you. And take away your proceeds.

Neither Frank Lucas nor Nicky Barnes were the man. The fact is that thousands became addicts and died. It is becasue of crooked governemnt, cops, and these two men and many others. Men who made a come up at the expense of their own community. It is sad that we call a movie about Frank Lucas or Nicky Barnes great. |
